The First Finished Copy

Writer: Richard SimonRichard Simon

Much to its author-publisher’s relief, Thomia is pretty much ready for delivery; the first 250 copies are scheduled to arrive at this address on February 20. As you can imagine, I can barely wait to hold the first copy of the first edition in my hands. For the moment, though, it’s still in the steady and careful hands of Softwave Printing, who sent me the above video on Friday. Interesting question: should Vol. I be packed to the left or right of Vol. II in the slipcase? If it’s on the left it looks correct on your bookshelf but Vol. II is on top when you pull the books out of the case. If it’s on the right, then it looks wrong on the bookshelf but Vol. I comes to hand first, which seems a bit more logical.

Any opinions? Let me know in the comments below. I don’t have much time left to make changes...

Book launch & end of special offer I had tentatively scheduled the book launch for 26 February, but it looks as if it would be more convenient for everyone if we had a few days extra in which to deliver pre-ordered copies. In any event, the launch will take place at the Barefoot Gallery Café; we should be able to announce the confirmed date by 18 Feb. at the very latest. We still mean to launch Thomia before the Royal-Thomian, so the delay won’t be more than a few days in any event. Invitations will be by WhatsApp and email.

One last, very important thing: The special pre-publication discount price for Thomia will cease to apply from 26 February onwards. So if you haven’t yet placed your order, best do so before then, or you will have to pay something like 20% extra for a copy. So act now, as they say, and save money!
